NEEDS ASSESSMENT SURVEY
We know many of you have recently been in desperate situations and we want to help coordinate a drive to take some of the burden of our Woodrow and JL Long families.
FAFSA/TAFSA DAY: We are partnering with DSAA, Dallas ISD Counseling Services, and ASP to provide English and Spanish help sessions for FAFSA/TAFSA. Senior parents and students are invited to attend a virtual session on February 24. Get more information and sign up online.
WOODROW WILSON COMMUNITY FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP
THE 2021 APPLICATION FOR SCHOLARSHIPS MANAGED BY THE WOODROW WILSON COMMUNITY FOUNDATION IS OPEN.
This year we have 31 individual scholarship awards totaling $49,250. The deadline for submissions is March 26. Students can get more information on the requirements and instructions and access the application by visiting the Woodrow Wilson Community Foundation website.

THE DALLAS WORKS MAYOR'S SUMMER YOUTH EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM IS ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS.Visit the Dallas Works website for additional information on eligibility and application deadlines.
WE HAVE RECEIVED AN EXTENSION TO MAKE UP THE MAPs TEST. If your student did not complete the reading or math test, make ups will be held on Wednesday, February 24. WOODROW FUN FACT
Woodrow has a rich theater tradition beginning in 1929 with the production of Daniel Steele’s, Giants’ Stairs. In 1957, the department produced the first Woodrow Broadway musical, Oklahoma!, and the Woodrow Wilson show choir, Variations, initially beginning in honor of the school’s 50th anniversary, continues to garner awards and accolades to this day.
ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT
Marca Lee Bircher is Woodrow Wilson High School’s long-time, award-winning choir director and school musicals producer/director whose outstanding choral and theater arts programs brought great acclaim to the school. Her choir students consistently won the highest awards in regional and state competitions. In 1979, she founded a show choir class, establishing a performing ensemble, The Variations, which appeared in venues across the city, state and nation. Throughout the years, she also directed students in 28 full-scale Broadway musical productions enjoyed by patrons from near and far. Retired from teaching in 2003, Governor Rick Perry awarded Marca Lee Bircher the state’s most prestigious Texas Medal of Arts Award.
