PTA PRESIDENT MESSAGE

Happy Mother’s Day to all our amazing Woodrow moms. I hope you all had a fantastic day!

I can’t believe we are in the home stretch. Things are very busy and I keep hope alive we are heading back towards some form of normal. In spite of the pandemic, our students, staff and families have found ways to persevere and make amazing things happen for our campus and kids.

Woodrow Chicago Musical was an amazing show! It’s unreal these kids can have Broadway level production value in high school! Excellent work by all involved! Check out the news story!

Our amazing Woodrow RoboCats are headed to state competition.

PTA continues to think outside the box and work with campus admin and our district to find ways to continue to safely allow our students, especially our seniors to participate in events and celebrate their achievements.

Please make plans to attend our end of year celebration. Bites and drinks will be served. All are welcome. I look forward to seeing everyone and ending the year on a high note!

REGISTRATION EVENT FOR DALLAS COLLEGE

IF YOU ARE PLANNING ON ATTENDING DALLAS COLLEGE, THERE WILL BE A REGISTRATION EVENT ON WEDNESDAY, MAY 12. Dallas College will be on our campus from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. to assist with documentation and class registration.

SENIOR SIGNING DAY

ON WEDNESDAY, MAY 12 WOODROW WILL HOST A SENIOR SIGNING DAY FOR ALL SENIOR STUDENTS. There are two parts to the event. Part one is a chance for students to show off their plans for next year. Students can make a poster with their name, school they will be attending, and senior pictures of themselves, and we will post them in the front hallway for all to see. Directions will be posted in Remind and the Senior Cohort Google Classroom. At the second part of the event, students will be given a checklist to complete tasks, including:

  • Attendance for credit
  • Transcript check in
  • FAFSA completion
  • DCCCD: Please fill out the form to register for the Dallas College Registration Ready Drive.
  • Cap and gown portraits
  • Senior data card
  • TSI registration
  • Ordering cap and gown
  • MADD
  • Student ID for prom entrance

Students will be signed off by an administrator at each table. This will ensure students are on track for graduation, that they have completed all the necessary steps for continuing education, and that they have an ID to get into the senior prom. The event will be held in the big gym from 10 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. A SignUpGenius will be sent through Remind and the Senior Cohort Google Classroom for students to select a time to attend. This is only for students.

STAAR TESTING

ON WEDNESDAY, MAY 12 WE WILL HOST FRESHMEN ON CAMPUS FOR BIOLOGY AND ALGEBRA I STAAR SUPPORT. Teachers have communicated which students need to attend in-person. Students who have excessive absences will get credit for their attendance. There will be virtual opportunities for support.

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Happy Mother’s Day. This last week was great as we celebrated our teachers, enjoyed the musical Chicago, and cheered on our athletes in post-season plan. This week on Wednesday we will celebrate seniors with a signing day and continue preparing freshman for STAAR EOC testing. Continue to talk to teachers about your student’s progress and email our counselors for social, emotional, or academic support. We are here to make sure all students finish this year strong. Thank you for partnering with us to make Woodrow the exemplary school for teaching and learning. Read more.
