IT'S TIME TO RE-STOCK THE PEACE PANTRY FOR THE SCHOOL YEAR. The Woodrow Community Peace Pantry helps supplement meals and provides healthy snacks, and uniforms/shoes for our DISD students in need. Food bags are handed out weekly to families who have the need. You can shop our Amazon wish list or Walmart wish list for delivery directly to the school, or you can shop on your own and drop items at the Woodrow main office. The biggest needs right now are green beans, peas, corns, peanut butter, jelly, mashed potatoes, pasta sauce, Hormel Compleats, and Suddenly Salad pasta. Please email Elizabeth Jurado in the main office if you would like more information.

THE SPIRIT SHOP WILL REOPEN AUGUST 19 FROM 7:30-8:59 A.M. We cannot sell to students during the school day. All online summer orders can be picked up that day. During the school year the Spirit Shop will be open every Thursday 7:30-8:59 a.m. and occasionally at special events. We will replenish inventory for the beginning of the school, so check back often for sizes. The online Spirit Shop is always open.

TIME FOR GOLF TRYOUTS! Boy's tryouts will be Wednesday, August 18 at 5 p.m. and girl's tryouts will be Thursday, August 19 at 5 p.m.

Seniors who have three years of membership on the team are not required to tryout. There will be seven spots open on the boy’s team and 14 spots on the girl’s team.

Anyone wanting to tryout must have a current physical on file with the school or in my possession prior to tryouts. If you do not have a physical, you won’t be permitted to tryout.

The boy’s tryouts will consist of nine holes of stroke play on the Tenison Glen front nine. The seven low scores (and ties) will make the team. Here is the sign up for the boys' tryouts.

The girl’s tryouts will consist of an evaluative tryout on the driving range and putting green. Wedge game (shots from 30-50 yards), iron play (shots from 60-100 yards), and tee shots (shots hit off the tee box with a driver or fairway wood) will make up the evaluation on the driving range. The second part of the tryout will be held on the putting green. Participants will putt from three spots: three feet, 12 feet, and 20 feet.  The best 14 scores (and ties) will make the team. Here is the link for the girls' tryouts.

If you are a multi-sport athlete or participate in multiple activities on or off campus, please talk to Coach Clites before tryouts about your availability throughout the year to see if golf is the right fit for you. Golf is a yearlong sport with seasons in the fall and spring. Underclassmen are not admitted into the athletic period until after tryouts. They are only admitted if a parent can confirm they have reliable transportation from Woodrow to Tenison Monday-Wednesday during the athletic period. Golf team members are not required to be in the athletic period to participate on the team; however, it is strongly encouraged if able.

If anyone needs golf clubs or equipment in order to tryout, please email Coach Joe Clites.
