PTA PRESIDENT MESSAGE

Wildcat Nation,

I am excited to announce that we have a very informative speaker lined up for our Wednesday, November 3 PTA General Meeting. The meeting will be virtual and begin at 7 p.m. Our speaker is Catherine Marrs* from Marrs College Admission Advisors. Her talk is titled "Preparing for College: How to Look Your Strongest & Minimize Your Debt."

If you have a child in high school, it is never too early to begin strategizing your child's college plan. From identifying your students strengths and interests to choosing a college and navigating the application process. The process can be stressful, confusing and put a burden on all members of the family. Please make plans to join us!

Chris Prestridge

SUPPORT LAKEWOOD EARLY CHILDHOOD PTA & THE LAKEWOOD HOME TOUR

Every year the Lakewood Early Childhood PTA (LECPTA) donates an incredible amount of money to both Long and Woodrow. They work tirelessly to take care of their community and their commitment to Long and Woodrow is unmatched.

The Lakewood Home Tour is a huge part of their fundraising efforts and they need volunteers to make it happen. This year LECPTA has designated 6827 Lakeshore to Woodrow PTA so our parents, students and alumni can volunteer together to work a home tour. The Lakewood Home Tour is November 12-13. Please take a moment to grab some friends and sign up for a shift.

HELP IB FILM COMPETE IN PARIS!

Woodrow Wilson Film program has been asked to participate in an event in Paris called Clash of the Titans. Some of the most renowned international schools with some of the strongest film programs in the world will meet in Paris in January where students will have the challenge to create a short film in 48 hours.

Grab your friends and join the first annual Cornhole Tournament on Saturday, November 13 to support the program. You can also donate or sponsor the tournament.

AUDITIONS FOR PIPPIN

Just a reminder that musical auditions are this Saturday, November 6! There will be one more chance to go through the songs with Candy Hooper who will be playing for Saturday's audition. This will be Tuesday afternoon at 4:45 p.m. in the choir room.

You should already know the songs, as this will not be a teaching rehearsal, but a chance to hear and record the accompaniment for the songs that you will be singing on Saturday, so be familiar with the songs!!!

At the audition on Saturday, you will sing one of the two songs (for boys or for girls) and will be accompanied by Candy Hooper, not singing to a pre-recorded track, so Tuesday's rehearsal is a great opportunity for you to prepare and give the best audition possible!

The signup sheet for the auditions will be posted on Monday afternoon, toward the end of the school day. It will be posted on the callboard outside the Black Box Theatre (across from the choir room).

Callbacks will be posted next Monday, November 8, and take place Saturday, November 13. The callback rehearsal will be after school (4:45 p.m. on Wednesday, November 10).

PEACE PANTRY THANKSGIVING BAGS

ThanksGIVING meal bags needed! Thank you to those who have signed up. We still need 40 bags.

Please help provide a complete Thanksgiving meal for our Woodrow families in need!  Sign up for your family to make a bag or sign up for multiple spots and contribute as a group.

Volunteers will be in the horseshoe to collect your bags from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. on Wednesday, November 17. Bags will be handed out Thursday and Friday after school. Thank you so much for your help.

UPCOMING MEETINGS

Mark your calendars for the next PTA and SBDM meetings this Wednesday. The SBDM meeting is from 6-7 p.m. on Zoom. The PTA meeting follows at 7. The guest speaker will focus on college admissions.
