MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL MORAN

Woodrow Families

Hey Wildcats, are you ready? We are excited to begin the 2020-2021 school year with you all. We are committed to providing a high-quality learning experience in a safe and welcoming environment to all students regardless of learning environment. This message includes important information about the following:

Re-entry Survey – Please Complete

As you may be aware, health data from the county is showing improvements. Based on that information and feedback from focus groups comprised of parents, teachers, principals, and teacher organizations, we are planning a phased-in option for reopening schools for face-to-face, on-campus instruction. This plan would provide the option for our youngest learners (and/or those in transition grade-levels) to have a one-week jump-start on campus, giving them a chance to get acclimated to their new surroundings and build strong, positive relationships.

For our school, this means freshman are invited to start school on September 28. All other students will start Monday, October 5. We are sharing this now so that you may prepare. Of course, this is optional. You may still select a distance only option if desired.

It will be critical for you to complete the Student Survey about reentry. You may find this survey on the district’s webpage.

We will follow up with information about self-screening and entry procedures.

Please note, these plans are based on current COVID health data and could be adjusted if there is a significant change. Safety is our top priority and we will continue to keep you informed.

Here is the Phase-In Timeline. Coaches, sponsors, and cohort Administrators will communicate about program and grade-specific details.

Woodrow Virtual Open House

Please review for Day One preparation. This website has critical information to start the school year. If nothing else, please make sure your student enrolls in their cohort Google Classroom and checks the announcements each morning by 9:20. Parent can enroll, too. By starting here, we will guide them through the day. The Google Classroom codes are available here and in the image below:

2020-2021 Google Cohort Codes

September 8 is a B-Day and students need to follow their schedule for this day. Dallas ISD"s IT department created Google Classrooms on top of what our teachers made. Students need to enroll and participate in the course created by our teachers. Woodrow Google Classroom codes are accessible by this index.

Technology and Textbooks

We are here to help you with technology supports.

If you did not return a textbook or novel from last year, we need those back to redistribute. Please bring any and all books to the "WILDCAT" glass doors near the gym between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Tuesday or Wednesday of this week for contactless drop off.

If you need a book, we will communicate process for redistribution by the end of the week.

SBDM Candidate Form

If you are interested in chairing a Site-Based Decision Making (SBDM) committee, please see the SBDM candidate form.

SBDM SubCommittee Chairs will help gather information from a diverse section of community stakeholders and partner with school staff to monitor goals and present committee recommendations to the SBDM at-large.

Please submit this form by September 16 at 5 p.m.to register as a candidate.
