October SBDM & PTA Meeting

The October SBDM Meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 17th at 6:00 p.m. followed by the PTA Meeting at 7:00 p.m.

All are welcome!

Headsets and translators will be available!

WoodrowFest

The 9th Annual WoodrowFest is Friday, October 20th

This great charity event was conceived by, organized and run by, sponsored and supported by Woodrow alums, parents and community leaders. 

The event raises money for the over 80k worth of current wWw Scholarship winners. Every year we give out at least four, $5,000 yearly scholarships ($5k a year $20k, total per student).

Help support our up-and-coming generations by helping them get that education they need to become leaders in our community. We will update everyone as we go on the many opportunities available to help us raise money for these students. Any and all help is welcome!!

Fall Fest Volunteers Needed

The Lakewood Elementary and Geneva Heights Fall Fest is Sunday, October 22 at Lakewood Elementary. They are looking for student volunteers (5th grade and older) who would like to earn volunteer hours, or just pitch in for fun and to help! There are various jobs to fill from working Midway games and activities to setup/clean up help. Shifts are in 1-2 hour increments running from 12:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Parents, if you did not indicate your socioeconomic information during the registration process, please do so at this time.

That is part of how we retain ALL of our teachers. We currently are at 47% completion. Our goal at Woodrow Wilson High School is 100% completion by October 23, 2023. ❤️🤍

DID YOU KNOW THERE IS FOOD PANTRY AT WOODROW WILSON HIGH SCHOOL?

THE WOODROW COMMUNITY PEACE PANTRY helps supplement meals and provides healthy snacks and uniforms for our DISD students in need.

Peace Pantry serves ANY students in need. Pick up bags of supplemental food and meal items in RM1103 (The Peace Pantry) after school (open until 5:00 p.m.). No paperwork is needed.

Lakewood Home Tour

Lakewood Home Tour primarily raises funds for Lakewood's Feeder schools in DISD (Lakewood Elementary, J.L. Long Middle School, and Woodrow Wilson High School). 

Here's how you can be a part of this amazing event:

1. Secure Your Ticket: Support the LECPTA by securing your ticket today for just $25! The Candlelight tickets are $40. Your ticket grants you access to all of the incredible homes featured on the tour for the entire weekend.

2. Volunteer Opportunities: Join our dedicated team of volunteers and help make this event a huge success! We have 4-hour shifts available. Sign up with friends for a rewarding and fun experience.

3. Catch the Replay: If you missed the grand reveal last night, don't worry! You can watch the video here to see all the jaw-dropping homes that will be on display.

4. Save the Date: November 11th and 12th- Mark your calendar for a weekend of inspiration and community spirit. We can't wait to see you there!

Tennis

Varsity Tennis fell short on Thursday for Area against Lebanon Trails, but they had an undefeated season.

Congratulations to our Bi-District Champs and Area Runner-Up!! 

A huge thank you and congrats goes to Coach Zotos for her amazing coaching and leadership!

Volleyball

Congratulations to Coach Harris on his 400 Career District Wins!!

Cross Country

This past Monday, Woodrow's Cross Country teams competed at the District Meet. 

Sophomore Ray Wright finished 5th individually and qualified for the Regional Cross Country meet! As a team, they finished 6th. Also competing for the girls were Katie Seeburger, Elle Schaeffer, Sophia Cirillo, and Zoe Pon. 

The JV boys claimed the JV District title, led by Christian Dowling as the District Champion. Also competing were Turner Johnson (2nd), Jake Seeburger (3rd), Nathaniel Beeker (6th), Mason Murray, Beau McGuinnes, and Nico Griffith. 

The Varsity Boys ran away from the competition to win the District Championship with Woodrow’s best district performance ever (31 points!). This beat the next closest team by 46 points!

The team performance was highlighted by District Champion Aviel Gasko, Hayden Gaunt (2nd), John McKenna (4th), and Stephen Grimm (7th) all qualifying for the Regional meet! Also competing for the Varsity were Cuauhtemoc Castro, Marc Segura, and Evan Segura. 

Cross Country will compete at the Regional Cross Country meet on Monday, October 23rd hosted by UT-Arlington. The meet will be at Lynn Creek Park in Grand Prairie.
