Senior Parking Spot Painting

Description

When you arrive Friday, you will need to check in near the horseshoe and sign 2 forms

and we will confirm spot number and correct forms turned in.

Bring all your own supplies: TRASH BAGS! and you must take your trash home with you. Buckets, paint, paint trays, long-handled rollers, brushes, tape, sponges, broom, metal scraper, chalk will be needed. If you are using sponge brushes, bring a lot. They will tear easily on the concrete.

Paint type: You will need Latex Exterior Primer to prime your spot on the Friday prior to painting. This will need to dry overnight. All painting for designs will need to be Latex-Based paint. No spray paint or oil-paint. Sherwin Williams at Mockingbird/Abrams will give all Woodrow students a 35% discount on your paint purchases. Just tell them you're with Woodrow Wilson Seniors when you buy paint.

Parking spaces are slightly different in size, but the average is 9 feet across x 18 feet long.

Reminders:

There will be a map of the spaces and purchasers on site in case you can't remember your spot number or location.

Your spot comes AS IS. There could be potholes, old paint that won't come off, or it could be uneven. Sorry, but we can't repair spots.

Plan on scraping off old paint- metal scrapers work best.

You MUST cover the yellow stripes that outline the spaces with tape.

It takes several hours for the paint to dry.

Bring a broom, you will not want to paint on dirt.

Be sure your primer is 100% dry before you move to painting

Bring chalk to sketch out your design

If you are changing colors and need to clean brushes, you will have to bring your own water and bucket. There is no water source.

Your paint will need to dry completely before adding another color on top or they will mix.

Having some helpers available is a good idea!

You may want to bring a pop- up tent or umbrella and plenty of sunscreen.

DO NOT FORGET TO TAKE ALL TRASH HOME WITH YOU!
