2026-2027 PTA Self Nomination Form

 

Let us know how you would like to participate on next year's PTA Board!  Please read descriptions of board positions below and select your top 3 choices in order of preference (1,2,3).  The number of volunteers required for each position is noted.

Please note that some positions may already be filled by members returning for their second term.

 

Executive Board

 

President (1) -  Presides over all Board and General Meetings. Serves as member of all committees except Nominating and Audit.  Represents WW in community and serves on Site Based Decision Making Team (ex-officio). This position is filled for the 2026-2027 school year.

1st Vice President – Communication (1) - Acts as aid to President and serves in his/her absence.  Oversees the elections of the Nominating Committee.  Coordinates communication activities. This position is also an excellent lead-in for the position of President.

2nd Vice President - Funding (1) - Coordinates fund-raising efforts (primarily Corporate and Family Sponsors for Homecoming), communicates with other campus-based fund-raising groups and coordinates with other groups providing funds for WWHS.  This position will also serve on the annual Budget Committee and propose fundraising efforts as needed to support the annual budget.  This position is also an excellent lead-in for the position of President.

3rd Vice President - Programs & Operations (1) - Oversees Operations and Programs that reflect the needs of the PTA and the school community.

4th Vice President - Disbursements (1) - Coordinates disbursement opportunities for consideration by the Board, including Wish List.  Oversees disbursement process and prepares report on disbursements for the Board.

Treasurer (1) - Handles the organization’s funds, including deposits and disbursements. This may include checks or bank debits for committee expenses. Reconcile all bank accounts and keep financial records for presentation to audit committee. 

Creates the budget in conjunction with officers and committee chairs.  Assists committees as needed to maintain the budget. Provides a financial report at general meetings or upon request. Oversees the preparation of the organization's tax return. Provides training for the assistant treasurer on all of the above.

Assistant Treasure (1) - Minimum 1 yr term. Provide assistance to the Treasurer as necessary and directed for any or all of the above. Expected to fulfill the position of Treasurer upon completion.

Recording Secretary (1) - Takes minutes at Board and General Meetings. Types, copies and distributes minutes at meetings and forwards them to school and website for public posting.  Keeps a copy of the bylaws and amendments to date.

Parliamentarian (1) - Appointed by President, subject to approval by incoming Board.  Responsible for presiding over questions of parliamentary procedure. Serves as Chairman of the Committee for Life Membership and presents Life Membership Awards for the state.

 

Committees

Alumni (1) -   Acts as a liaison for Woodrow Alumni. WWHSAA also has a liaison to WWHS PTA.

Beautification & Facilities (2) - Assists with school grounds to keep campus looking good; works with Wish List, SBDM and DISD to improve upon grounds and maintain building.  Responsible for upkeep of trophies in cases in hallways. Time commitment dependent upon proposed project and complexity of plans.

Brick Program (1) - Coordinates the sales and installation of bricks in courtyard.   This is a minimal time commitment.

Class Communicant (1) - Incoming Freshman Parents Only.  This is a four year commitment beginning the summer before freshman year, and this person will oversee communicating regularly with Freshman via V.P of Communications.  This position will also serve on the Executive Committee and lead/recruit members to serve on the Senior Class Committee for all activities and serves on the committee for Freshman Orientation.

Coffee Fairy (1) - Works with Office Staff to replenish coffee and supplies for the Teachers Lounge upon request.

Freshman Orientation/Cub Camp  (2-4) - Coordinates with campus staff to put on welcoming event for incoming Freshmen.   Some work in late Spring and over the summer and one day event. 

Homecoming Festival Chair (1-2) - Chair (or co-chairs) will lead a committee to coordinate logistics and promotion of the Homecoming Pep Rally including procurement of sponsors, food, beverage, entertainment and volunteers for the event.

Homecoming Committee (10-15) - VP of Fundraising and Pep Rally Chair head this committee.  Committee members will assist with coordination of logistics for the Homecoming Pep Rally and assist VP of Fundraising with logistics pertaining to Corporate and Family Sponsorships.
I.B. Parent Liaison (1) - Communicates regularly with I.B. coordinator. Coordinates grade level I.B. events, sends newsletters and communications through Remind to keep parents and students aware of upcoming meetings and events.

Membership (1) - Recruits new members year round, collects dues and maintains membership records.  Reports membership numbers and submits dues to Texas PTA. 

Mini-School (4) - (This event may coincide with Freshmen Orientation.) - Organize academy presentations given to prospective families.  Includes coordination of various Boosters and Enrichment programs for presentations.  Also includes coordination of school fair in cafeteria and desserts for visitors.  Time commitment primarily 2 weeks prior to event.

Newsletter (1) - Works with PTA President and Woodrow Liaison to compile and distribute the weekly e-newsletter. Time commitment is several hours weekly.

Safety (1) - Works with both school administration and the SBDM Committee on any actionable items regarding school and campus safety.

Senior Class Committee (8) - JUNIOR parents only - Assists Class Communicant with all Senior Class Activities including Parking lot sales, Prom, All Night Party, Baccalaureate ceremony, Teacher Appreciation Luncheon, Senior Dinner,  Senior t-shirts , Senior Year book signing….. this committee is busy all year!

Social Committee (4) - Helps organize PTA-sponsored events such as Holiday Party, End of Year Party and Founder’s Day Celebration (JL Long is co-host).  Time commitment minimal.

Social Media (1) - Manages and posts events and information regarding calendar events and pertinent school-related messages on Facebook and Instagram.  Time commitment is approximately 3 hours per month.

Spirit Wear & Student Store (2-4) - Coordinates and facilitates the design, ordering, inventory and delivery of spirit wear.  Time commitment is year round.

Staff Appreciation (6) - Plans events to show appreciation to teachers and staff. Includes several events throughout the year such as Thanksgiving Dessert Lottery, Back to School Breakfast, Valentine’s Day Gift, and multiple treats during Staff Appreciation Week in May.   Helps collect and distribute supplies to teachers.  Time commitment primarily when hosting event (1-2 hours at a time) and some planning for event.

Sunshine (1) - Organizes special requests from PTA such as teacher recognitions, sympathy arrangements and special needs.  Time commitment is minimal.

Volunteer Coordinator (1) - Creates SignUpGenius sites for volunteer needs and assists with recruiting volunteers for school events, and neighborhood Home Tours staffed by Woodrow.  Time commitment is minimal.

Website (1) - Maintains all aspects of the website and assists committee chairs, President with the creation and management of online forms for events and PTA Membership as necessary. Requires communication with all board positions.  Time commitment is several hours weekly.

Mini Grants (2-3) - Solicits and manages requests from staff and teachers for supplies/equipment not funded by DISD.  Works closely with Principal, President, and Treasurer to approve and fund requests.  Mini Grant requests open in August and conclude in January.

Woodrow Wilson Community Foundation Liaison (1) - Communicates regularly with Foundation to stay aware of funding opportunities and fundraising activities.  (Should be PTA President or President’s designee.)
